Description

2010 Tail of the Lizard Adventure II

Hosted by GNOCC a "Yall Come" Event

Date: Sunday March 28, 2010

Leaving from: Café DuMonde 4700 Veterans Blvd. Metairie

We leave at 7:30AM

The GNOCC is once again planning a fun day of driving our Corvettes on some nice twisty, hilly back roads on the North shore of Louisiana and into Southwest Mississippi. We will begin by leaving Cafe DuMonde on Vets. Please click on the link below to see the exact route.

We will stop in Covington to pick up North shore drivers at the Wal-Mart (880 N. Hwy. 190) just north of I-12. Let’s park close to the entrance so we can use the bathrooms before we leave. The South shore drivers should arrive at the Wal-Mart in Covington approx. 8:15.AM. Remember to bring your cameras.

We will have lunch in Columbia at the Round Table 318 Church St Columbia, MS 39429 (601)736-3438. There should be enough parking there and across the street at offices that will be closed on Sunday. Arrival time depends on the pace and our stops (About 1:00PM). Its approx. 318 mi. This will be an all day ride. I plan to stop a few times along the way for bathroom breaks.  We will make a planned stop at Red Bluff (just above Columbia, MS) to view the colorful canyon near the Pearl River.

Since we have a long drive, we will be traveling at a spirited pace. No excessive speeds, but be prepared to be able to pass cars on two lane highways when it’s safe to do so. We will do our best to stay together. I suggest that everyone open the attachment with the route. Print the map and directions and keep them with you. I have tried to avoid driving though areas with traffic lights and congestion to help keep everyone together. Anyone who wants to take a leisurely ride at a slower pace can do so; we will discuss the route order at the Covington stop.  The route is fairly easy to follow.

Some of these roads are hilly and have lots of nice curves. Be sure to keep a safe distance from the car in front of you >>  The Corvette's wide tires will toss gravel if you roll over it. If some cars fall behind, as long as you stay on the route everyone should eventually catch up. Remember to come with a full tank of gas. One tank should do it for the day, but we’ll probably make a stop or two along the way for fuel. Check your tire pressures and fluids too.

If this looks like it will be a rainy day, I am planning to postpone this event, it’s too far to drive on a lousy day. Call my cell # Saturday eve if there is any doubt about the weather.

Please be sure to RSVP to Chuck Boylan at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (cell # is 504-512-6063)

Give your name (and your co-pilot's name), your cell #, and description of your car.
