2nd Annual Corvette Club Day at No Problem Raceway ...
Well, the 2nd Annual Corvette Club Day
at No Problem Raceway on Sunday, Feb.17th, far surpassed my expectations.
I had
told the track we might have between 75 &
125 cars & 200 people....We had 599 people sign the waiver to enter
the track (this excludes kids 12 & under). We had over 250 cars and
over 150 (may be close to 180) teched to run on track. We started
the Drag Racing Time Trials at 9:00 am & began the bracket racing rounds
at 12:30. There were three classes for Bracket Racing. Class I & Class
II were Trophy Races & the Money Bracket was for the Cash. In the Money
Bracket each entrant put up $10. The winner receives 50% of the pool, Runner
Up gets 25% & the other 25% was to help cover some of the extra event
costs.
Here's the results of the Quarter Finals & Finals for all three Bracket races:
Class I (14.00 seconds & above) - 22
Cars in this class
Semi Final Round:
Mark Lyon vs Eric Tagesen
Robert Lambert II vs Bye
Finals:
Mark Lyon - Winner
Robert Lambert II. - Runner Up
Class II (13.99 seconds & Quicker) - 32 Cars
in this class
Semi Final Round:
Earl Mendoza vs Russ Gilardi
Barry Lasseigne vs Laddie Roussel
Finals:
Earl Mendoza - Winner
Barry Lasseigne - Runner Up
Money Bracket (Open to All) - 26 Cars in this
class
Semi Final Round:
Antoine Landry vs Steve Jones
Laddie Roussel vs Pete Vicari
Finals:
Antoine Landry - Winner (won $140)
Laddie Roussel - Runner Up (won $70)
Around 2:30, we started the Road Course activities.
We had over 70 cars participate in the Stage I Touring Laps around the
1.8 mile road course (with 14 turns). 20 car groups drove around the course
getting up to 45 to 50 mph. Somewhere around 30 cars participated
in the Stage II road tour with an SCCA instructor riding as passenger &
getting up to 80 mph. Thanks to Mike Poupart for arranging for the 10 to
12 SCCA Driving Instructors that helped us out (Monte Shalett, John Centanni,
& don't remember all the other names) ...
It was a blast & this was either the 1st
or 2nd time on drag strip for 90% of us and the 1st time on Road course
for 99% of us...
Glen Deikelmann won the 50/50 raffle & took home $350.
Here's the winners of the Fastest ET Trophies
from
our Corvette Club Day at No Problem Raceway on Sunday, Feb. 17th. I had
five Trophies for Fastest Corvette (one for each Generation C1 through
C5), The Fastest Non-Corvette, The Fastest Lady Driver, and the Fastest
Non-Street car. These Trophies were in addition to the four Trophies
for the Winners &
Runner-ups in the two Bracket Racing Classes.
I'll have these at the GNOCC meeting on Friday,
Mar.1st (Italian Pie) & at the BRCC meeting on Thursday, Mar. 14th
(East
Side Volunteer Fire Dept., 15094 Old Hammond
Hwy). I've also included some of the other times based on input I
received.
I would appreciate a note from the winners letting
me know if you will be at either one of these meetings to pick up your
trophy. Thanks, laddie...
