Vettes By The Shore 2003

 Again this year everyone attending Vettes by the Shore had a wonderful time. It is one of the nicest shows in our area. There’s always a lot to do. Different groups ate at different places, some of us ate steak others ate seafood. You can always find a nice buffet on the Gulf Coast, and our host motel, The Biloxi Beachfront Inn serves a pretty good meal.
 The weather started out pretty bad on Friday with a bunch of us going through thunderstorms to get to the show. Saturday it cleared up with just a few showers. It was a dry comfortable 70 degrees in the Coliseum once you got your car cleaned up.
 This year attendance was down a little to 110 cars. Probably because of the weather and the upcoming celebrations in Bowling Green. GNOCC won again for best club participation and our members took home a bunch of trophies. Amber Smith won 1st. place in the C4 Kid’s Corvette Class. Gerald and Kim Avery took home a display only, participation plaque and Sal Marino, Bill Bloecher, and Mary Berkowitz took a display only and sponsor trophies. Ralph Adams took 1st. in the C4 Modified Street class (1984-1990) along with a sponsor trophy and Buddy Cook won a sponsor trophy and 2nd. in the C4 Modified Street class (1991-1996). Bryan Giroir took 3rd. in the C5 Modified Street class along with 2 sponsor trophies and Raymond Pertuit took 1st. in C5 Modified Street, a sponsor trophy, and a trophy for “Favorite Paint”. Ken Klein took 1st. in C5 Street and Show along with a sponsor trophy. Bob Leeds took 1st. in Wash and Show, a sponsor trophy, and “Favorite W&S C5”. Herman Smith took 1st. in C4 Custom Street, 1st. in C4 Street and Show, tied the Kleins for 1st. in C5 Street and Show, along with “Favorite Concours Street” and 3 sponsor trophies for his 3 cars. Last but not least is Wally LaMulle. Walley took 1st. in C4 Modified Street (1991-1996), “Favorite Modified”, a sponsor trophy, and “Best in Show”.
 Congratulations to everyone in the show, we all worked hard to get our cars in shape and thanks to the members of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Corvette Club for another great show. We’ll all be looking forward to next year and we’ll be looking forward to seeing you at the ExtraVETTEganza on August 23rd.
